Hi,

Thank you two previous posters for the nice comments.

I wanted to add some thoughts on just why it is that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin.

Blood is life. The Bible tells us that the life of our physical fleshly body is by the existence of blood in our body.

Leviticus 17:11

For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

No blood in our bodies = no life in our bodies.

To bleed shed your blood, is to give your life.

Now the counter to life is Sin, which is death. The result of sin is death. Death means Separation. Physical death results in physical separation from one another. Spiritual Death results in Spiritual separation from God.

Jesus willingly shed His blood and Died on the cross for us so that as God His Death can provide the Resurrection and remove Sin and therefore bring us into His Life. His Everlasting Resurrection Life.

This is no small event. The Most anyone can do for anyone is to die for them. Death is finality for any penalty given.

If someone were sentenced to Life in Prison the moment they died would be the moment that their death sentence ended.

Sin is the death sentence for each and every one of us so at the moment of the death of Jesus we are set free from the death sentence imposed on us by sin. The death that we are to recognize is the Death of Jesus for our sins, this Baptizes us into the death of Jesus so that we can Also be Baptized into the Everlasting Resurrection Life of Jesus

On the cross Jesus said it is finished/paid in full (John 19:30) death is the fullest payment. We can now Live our life without the weight of Sin because we acknowledge the death of Jesus for our sin. We can also Live in the New Life of Eternity with God because we Acknowledge the Resurrection of Jesus from Death. The death and resurrection of Jesus are unique in that Jesus is God and as God is Not able to Remain Dead. Being God Jesus lives. The Resurrection of Jesus is the Sign to us that ours sins are removed and the we now have Resurrection life with God.

Again this is no small miracle. The death and Resurrection of Jesus are so complete that the Bible tells us Even our Conscience is Clean from anything that we have done.

Hebrews 9:13-14

For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

A clean Conscience, a clean Past, a clean Present, a clean Future, Reconciliation to Everlasting God, all through the Blood of Jesus, that He willingly suffered and died for us.

Hebrews 10:28-29

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

The Bible tells us not to take lightly the blood of Jesus and I agree we should embrace the blood of Jesus for our lives by Respecting Jesus for His Life giving blood sacrifice for us.

God Bless You,

David

Hi,
This was an awesome post. Thank you for it.

I did have a quesion, though.....if our conscience is clean, why do we remember things that God obviously brings to mind in which we need to give restitution for which happened before salvation? Is it really that the conscience is clear...or that it now can be when we've been obedient and gone and asked for forgiveness in obedience to the Spirit's leading?

[guess that was two questions..sort of.]

Hi Amy,

Good points.

You are right and let me clarify. The Death and Resurrection of Jesus is so complete that All of our sins are paid for and we do have Everlasting Life in Jesus, Only when we choose to acknowledge/receive them.

The Cleansing of our Conscience is an ongoing work done in union with God the Holy Spirit. For instance we are to be washed with the water of the Word of God (Ephesians 5:26). Reading the Bible and Praying is a vital work in Cleansing our Conscience. It is the Truth of God that sets us free but if we do not know, appropriate or practice the truth of God in our life than we are not free.

Ephesians 5:27 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

This continues to point out that Christianity unlike any of the man-made Religions of the world is a Relationship a Relationship with the Living, Loving, God.

Christianity is not a works based religion but a relationship and therefore our Relationship with God is greatly revealed in our thoughts, feelings and emotions.

There are a couple of reasons why we are concerned or convicted over past sins. We should remember past wrongs and past rights, the Prophet Isaiah tells us to remember to mark where we have been so we can determine what is right in our life and what we did wrong, we are to remember when we have drawn near to God and when we have strayed from God. If we had no remembrance of the pain of wrong actions we would probably more easily repeat those wrong actions.

Isaiah 46:10 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Also keep in mind that Satan does attempt to take advantage of our past and the Devil, which Devil means accuser, will gladly accuse us to condemn us and separate us from God.

It is good discernment to know and remember that the good conviction of the Holy Spirit is Always to draw us into a close more personal relationship with God while the unnecessary condemnation of the Devil is to condemn us and separate us from the Love of God.

I have some more writing that Im working on right now about the Healing/Sanctification process of the Christian.

Healing Sanctification is an ongoing process in the life of the Christian.

One of my desires is to see the Christian words Redemption and Salvation correctly used. Redemption is a one time work of the Cross of Jesus removing sin to reunite us with Him. Salvation is the ongoing work of the Resurrection of Jesus. We are Saved/Healed thought the Life of Jesus and this is an ongoing process and a big part of our healing is in our thoughts our emotions our desires in our conscience.

This is really an important topic and Satan is really out to Kill, Steal, and Destroy our opportunity and ability to be healed and cleansed in a Loving Relationship with God.

God Bless you,

David

Today, I was listening to a fallen preacher who had returned to God.
I remember him in his earlier years...such a good minister, worked on
Bourbon Street in New Orleans ministering to prostitutes, and all of the street people there. Some nightclubs even let him come in and preach once in a while. He was like a fixture there. Well, worse came to worse and he became tempted with all of these women, etc. He ended up divorcing his wife and as time went on , his life was more and more miserable. He made a lot of money in businesses, but he became even more miserable the more money he had. This went on for years.
His old friend. Rex Humbard heard of his wherabouts and called him and led him into true repentence, with them reading various scriptures over the phone. From that moment on, he was coming back to God..but this is what I wanted to share. He , in tears, said certainly God did forgive him. No problem there at all. Problem was and is that he deeply regrets his actions and said that while he is forgiven, there are many, many , many people who have suffered because of his sins, including his own children and wife. There was the divorce which wounded his entire family, both sides. He has called and seen a lot of people he hurt, and most of them were glad
to hear he had come back to God, and they too forgave him. But, once again, fact is, there will always in his lifetime be hurting people with wrecked lives because of him.....and this is one thing he cannot change. He would like to undo these things, but cannot. So while he is forgiven, he is having to live with the consequences of his sins, while all of the others are having to do the same...thru no fault of their own.
This consequences part is hard, but he is just now, after YEARS getting the joy of his salvation back, because he is soulwinning again.

Pray for Bob Harrington, a dear brother in the LOrd. He came back home.

Hi 123four,

Excellent Post!

You have really touched on a couple of topics that I would like to continue on in discussion.

1.) Our Sins affecting others.

2.) True Repentance

First to say that this Preacher or person wronged me or was a bad example is always the case. Every person is a sinner, its just the way we are. That is why we are to specifically look to Jesus as our example and Jesus only.

Hebrews 12:1-3

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

If someone does something good and God is glorified in it then we are to recognize God in it. When someone does something wrong we are to recognize their human sinful nature in it.

The final remedy for All sin is the cross of Jesus. I think that one of the most important aspects of the blood of Jesus is that it covers Every Sin including the sins that I have commited against God and Man and the sins that others have committed against me. Of course God is not a sinner and has sinned against no one that is why His blood can pay for our sins.

Matthew 18:21-35

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellow servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

When someone sins against me I take it to the cross where I find forgiveness. If I havent forgiven them then I really havent been to the cross. And I also Remind myself that my sins are also covered under the same blood of Jesus and I do hope and pray that those who I have offended and sinned against go to the same cross of Jesus and find the same forgiveness and in that forgiveness freedom. Freedom to go on with our lives and freedom to live, love and to laugh and enjoy God and His creation.

2.) on next post.

God Bless You,

David

2.) True Repentance

Getting to know God is a life long process - adventure and some of our greatest learning experiences about God come through our greatest failures. Lets look at the Christian walk for what it is a life time and while someone is living and breathing here on earth, lets not give up on them as through God All things are possible!

Hebrews 6:10

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

It is common among Christians to look at someone who is in a backslidden state or doing some wrong and for us to say well they arent saved or they were never saved.

I think that this is extremely dangerous and here is why.

#1 Christianity is Not a works based Religion. True we are to be obedient and we should examine ones Obedience to God. But lapses of weakness do not make us unsaved they only reveal that we are indeed human.

If we were to look at All of the Bible greats each one of them had weaknesses, Jonah, Job, Abraham, Sarah, David. Each one had their trials and troubles while living upon the earth. Only Jesus is Perfect. But each one had God and it was God that worked all things to good. Why, Because they Loved God (Romans 8:28). They had a relationship with God.

The Biblical example is that God Takes Bread Blesses it then Breaks it and then Distributes it. Lets look at King David as an example. God took him as a Shepard boy and Blessed him had Samuel anoint him as King of Israel and David had many blessings including the victory over Goliath. But then God began to break David and David had many troubles and trials including fleeing from Saul, and many dissenters many thought God had rejected David as King, Nahor for one. At one point David even offered to fight with the Philistines and against Israel. Finally God made David King, yet David sinned with Bathsheba. It was only after the Brokenness of the sin that God revealed to David that His greatest plan for David was to Have Jesus the Messiah be a descendant of David and reign from the throne of David.

Another example, the nation of Israel, it wasnt until after Israel was broken and taken into captivity by Babylon that God then returned them to the Promise Land and Israel then accomplished its greatest accomplishment in the Birth of Jesus the Messiah.

I think that as the Church we need to recognize this process and support our Pastors, Teacher, and Leaders, during their troubles and After their troubles and look for their greatest accomplishments to come.

It seems to be an easy device of the Devil to have us reject the very people who are primed to be at their very best. After all lets not be like the Mormons and the other cults who are most interested in appearances and appear to have their house in order. Lets look to the real substances of God, Sin and Salvation.

God Bless You,

David

In his story, Bro. Harrington was just trying to relay the message that even tho we are forgiven, we will regret the consequences not only to ourselves, but especially to those we have wronged. He lives
with that regret, albeit he is forgiven. Since he hurt his children and wife so much, and lost their respect, it was a hard blow to him, as somehow he never considered the final outcome. That is what he was saying...to consider the outcome when we sin. His particular sin hit home on a very personal level..that within his own family.
Adding here that not only was it on a very personal level (and the most hurtful to him), he was in the public eye very much at the time, and it was all over the newspapers and rag magazines about his sin.
He was regretful of that as well, because he felt he had let down the body of Christ. These were just his own sentiments on the whole thing.

He did say that most people forgave him that he asked to, including his former wife. His problem was regret of what he had done. When he returned to God with his whole heart, people were very supportive of him, then and now. His problem was not others, but rather what to do with the regret, and forgiving himself.

David,
A wonderful, insiteful post! As brothers and sisters in Christ how spiteful and judgemental we can sometimes be...because we still have a sinful (albeit forgiven) nature.
Jesus loves us and is so faithful to us...continuously forgives us our transgressions. We so often "go after" our backsliding or erring brother in condemnation..something Jesus NEVER did ( or does)to His own.
God help us to be less judgemental and condemning and more like our Savior who came to seek, heal and reconcile us back to our heavenly father.
As my pastor often says ,"Jesus said to feed (care for)His sheep not to beat His sheep." And, we all need to remember sheep often loose their way, or fall among wolves etc. That is why we need a great shepherd to begin with..we are vulnerable and sinning creatures.

Hi ,

I agree besides by acting like our own self condemnation makes things right we are actually denying the Blood of Jesus.

It is Jesus that set right the wrongs of the world not us and not our self pity and self condemnation.

One illustration of this is a friend of mine who wore a really nice cross necklace. One day he wasnt wearing it so I asked what happened to it he told me that he had sinned and that he didnt feel worthy to wear it. I said that in ourselves we are not worthy but covered by the blood of Jesus and Born Again Spiritually into the image of Jesus makes us worth of All things so to put the necklace back on and to jump up into the lap of his Heavenly Father where he belongs.

I really dont think God appreciates us separating and distancing ourselves from Him. And Satan wants to fool us into thinking that we are doing a good and right and noble thing by keeping ourselves from God. That is wrong! The Bible Only tells of us to press in and enter into an even closer and more personal relationship with God.

1 John 1:1-10

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us; That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

God Bless You,

David

Hi LIFTLEGHI,

Thank you for the nice post.

Here is a scripture verse if you have a different one in mind just let me know.

2 Corinthians 5:7

For we walk by faith, not by sight:

You have touched on a very good topic The Christian Life Walk I actually feel that this is the topic of this forum.

I plan on adding several new resources and having much more discussion on just what do we do as Christians living (for the most part) out of the perceivable presence of God and coping in a fallen world.

God Bless You,

David

i like that because we all learn that God forgives-but by some one putting it into a more modern-day situation (as apposed to during the time of Christ)it brings more reality to the fact that God will forgive if forgiveness is asked for.

Hi Bella,

Nice point!

Gods forgiveness is still as good and as fresh as when Jesus forgave us from the cross.

God Bless you,

David

And 'without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin'
still applies. When we accept what Jesus did and ask for forgiveness, every-each and all- sins are forgiven.
